RANGERS are being mocked online for selling tax discs, despite them being abolished four years ago.

Despite there no longer being any legal requirement for them, images have surfaced on Twitter of what appears to be the discs reduced down to £1 in a Rangers shop.

One user of the site wrote: “Rangers shops selling loads of tax disc holders. When did people stop having to use tax discs? This is what we are competing with commercially.”

Another said: “Ohhh ffs! I’ve seen it all now lol. What is the definition of irony, rangers selling tax discs in their superstore. The gift that keeps on giving.”

“To be fair to Rangers they are selling top quality products in store to their fans at affordable prices.....like Rangers branded tax discs for a £1....Ignore the fact that no one uses tax discs nowadays. But their support do love living in the past,” was another comment.

One tickled user added: “Rangers selling tax discs?? Oh, the irony.”

The images come just days after the Evening Times reported how the taxman has won court costs of £240,000 from the liquidated company that owned Rangers FC.

It came after the Supreme Court ruled in its favour over the club’s use of Employee Benefit Trusts to pay players and staff.
