A SPRINGBURN woman battling multiple sclerosis has made a tearful plea for help raising £50,000 for life-changing treatment.

Carol Scarry has just two months to meet her massive target in order to travel to Mexico for chemotherapy treatment, known as Haematopoetic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) in October.

The mum-of-two created a tearful video begging Glaswegians for help in order to prevent her children from watching her lose the ability to speak or eat.

Speaking through tears Carol said: "I don't want to put my kids through that, I can't do it.

"So, I can only ask for anybody's help. Share, donate, share my story as much as you possibly can, share the events as much as you possibly can.

Glasgow Times:

"There can be no words. not even the correct words. You can thank anyone in life for the simplest wee thing but this is worth more than thanks but it's one of these things you don't know what's the right words to say."

As previously reported in the Evening Times, Carol suffers from Progressive-Relapsing MS (RRMS) and with every relapse a little more of her independence is taken from her.

The Mexican treatment is the 39-year-old's only chance of stopping the disease in its tracks.

She added: "I'm thankful to everybody that has helped me and the people that have helped so far you wouldn't believe.

"It's quite humbling and it's something new to me because I've never needed to depend on people's help.

"The people that are getting involved are the people that you don't expect to get involved. It's so humbling.

"I've got a very, very big target and a very short period of time to meet that target and any ideas or anything that people can come up with to help, there would be no words."

Since starting her journey in April this year, she has raised just over £5,700.

If Carol fails to make her target, she is able to delay the treatment – however, the cost will likely increase meaning she will be required to take on even more fundraising ventures.

Both Carol's children are on the autism spectrum and she is desperate to ensure they are able to rely on her for as long as she lives.

Glasgow Times:

A tearful Carol said: "I need people's help. It's time now that I'm begging for people's help. Anything that anybody can do for me I'm full of appreciation.

"I'm willing to go through the chemo, become bald on my 40th birthday and it's all for my kids and my husband and my family."

She added: "My kids are on the spectrum so they need me a wee bit more.

"The thought of having to put them through more is heart breaking."
