A NEW shop selling official Glasgow 2018 European Championships merchandise has opened its doors in George Square today.

With less than 50 days until the biggest sporting event since the Commonwealth Games begins, the buzz is building across the city.

Sports fans and families can get their hands on a range of merchandise to get in the spirit and show their support for the Championships.

The range will grow as the Championships approach and will include men’s, women’s and kids’ Ts, polo shirts, hoodies, jackets plus exclusive sport-specific apparel for all Glasgow 2018 sports – Aquatics, Cycling, Golf, Gymnastics, Rowing and Triathlon. There really will be something for everyone.

Bonnie the Seal was on-hand to help kids cut the ribbon and officially open the store and showcased her very own range of Bonnie plush toys in three different sizes along with a variety of other accessories including keyrings and pin badges.

Colin Hartley, Glasgow 2018 Championships director said: “The official merchandise shop opening its doors in George Square is a significant milestone in our journey towards the Championships.

"This is a fantastic city-centre outlet which, at Championships’ time will have the full range of Glasgow 2018 clothing and accessories.

The George Square shop is located on the site of Festival 2018 and will be open 10am-6pm daily until the Championships begin, when the opening hours will be extended.

A second outlet will open soon in Glasgow’s Central Station.
