EX-Celtic star Simon Donnelly and snooker legend John Higgins were among the golfers taking part in a charity golf day for cancer.

The event was held at the iconic Fairmont St Andrews for Glasgow based cancer charity Cancer Support Scotland.

The day attracted stars from sports and journalism as well as number of businesses.

John Higgins, the four time world snooker champion, went head to head with ex-Celtic and Scotland International footballer Simon Donnelly in a drive to raise awareness and funds for the small Scottish charity.

On the day, it was one of sponsor, MS Amlin, teams, led by Derek McShane who scooped first place.

Marlyn Hosie from Cancer Support Scotland said: “We want to express our sincere thanks to MS Amlin for their sponsorship and support. Without their help, the day would not have been possible. We are also really grateful to our celebrity players and businesses who joined us on the day to show their support.

Derek McShane, Business Development Manager with MS Amlin, added: “It was our pleasure to support this worthy cause. We’d like to thank everyone at Cancer Support Scotland for all the wonderful work you carry out to help improve the lives of those affected by Cancer.”

The day raised over £5,000 to help cancer patients and their loved ones.
