A CAR belonging to a knife gang who repeatedly stabbed a man while he was sitting in his friend's work van has been traced by cops.

The Audi used in the brutal hit on the 30-year-old in Torrance was discovered abandoned on a farm track off the B821, midway between Carbeth and Blanefield at around 10.30am on Wednesday.

Detectives investigating the serious assault will now carry out a full forensic examination on the vehicle, which is a blue Audi A4 with an X prefix.

Glasgow Times:

We previously reported that the victim was attacked in broad daylight in the leafy East Dunbartonshire village on Tuesday at around 5.20pm.

The criminal gang behind the violent and targeted attack boxed him in to carry out the hit.

He was sitting in the passenger seat of the grey Vauxhall Combo van in Queens View where it meets Main Street when a number of men got out of the Audi armed with knives, and proceeded to smash the passenger window and attack him.

Glasgow Times:

The victim's friend and driver of the van, 34, then drove to the ASDA Bishopbriggs, where an ambulance was called.

The victim was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he is receiving treatment for stab wounds. He remains in a serious but stable condition.

Police Scotland previously said the attack was targeted, and they could not rule out a link to serious and organised crime.

The force, however, appealed on Thursday to the public who may have seen the car.
