A FIRE near the Glasgow Fort has seen residents hit by a power cut.
Images obtained by the Evening Times show black smoke rising above an area close to the shopping hub.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said a member of the public raised the alarm at around 8.21pm to what was initially thought to be a rubbish fire.
However, when an appliance was dispatched to the area five minutes later, firefighters discovered it was an electricity substation on Brunstane Road that was ablaze.
Firefighters are still on the scene having been tackling the fire for an hour.
Scottish Power said an electricity fault is affecting the Auchinlea Road area.
The company said: “Auchinlea Road is currently affected by an unplanned electricity fault in the G34 postcode area of Glasgow.
“This has been caused by a fault on our electrical network and is affecting properties in Duffus Street, Provan Walk and surrounding streets.
“Our engineers have been dispatched and will work to restore the electricity supply by 10.45pm.
“Should this information change, every effort will be made to keep those affected updated.
“We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.”
