SUMMER is well and truly back in Glasgow as the city is set to become as hot as TENERIFE from today.

The city and its surrounding areas have woken up to clear blue skies and hot temperatures as many are set to flock to Kelvingrove Park for the annual Mela festival.

Today will be dry with long spells of “very warm sunshine,” said the Met Office, with the maximum temperature set to be 22°C.

The mercury will hit highs of 25°C mid-week as Glasgow’s warm weather lines up with that of the popular holiday island of Tenerife.

The rest of the week in Glasgow will be “largely dry and sunny and becoming hot into next week.”

The weather service added: “There will be unbroken sunshine for many parts of the UK with temperatures higher than the weekend. It will be cloudier and cooler across northern Scotland, and also cooler where sea breezes develop.

From Tuesday to Thursday, the Met Office said: “It will be dry, mostly sunny and becoming hot across central, western and some northern areas.

“It will be somewhat less hot across the southeast, at least at first, and also where sea breezes develop.”
