THESE stunning pictures give a first-look glance inside an iconic West End church that is being converted into luxury apartments.

The former Lilybank Church, on Great George Street, was originally known as Belmont Church back in 1894.

It was designed by Glasgow architect James Miller who was also responsible for the travel centre in St Enoch Square, Glasgow Royal Infirmary, the facade of the Turnberry Hotel in Ayrshire and Peebles Hydro.

Plans were first drawn up to convert the church to flats back in 2010.

Now, though, the plans have come to fruition as work gets underway to incorporate 24 unique residences in the Grade B listed building.

The ex-church’s iconic sandstone exterior has been refreshed and restored, the old columns and timber trusses have been retained and the original stone carvings have been left exposed.

As well as this, the original archway is being made into a private entrance.

The pictured apartment is accessed via a glass elevator. The soaring stain glass windows have been reframed and lit in the atrium and the 19th century pews have been upcycled into a communal seating area.

Prices for the properties start from £210,000. The three-bedroom property in the pictures is priced at £750,000.
