THIS is the amazing moment an unsuspecting woman received a ‘Marvel-lous’ surprise when her romantic partner popped the question on one of Glasgow’s busiest streets.

Film fanatic Louisa Hanley was shopping on Buchanan Street with a friend when she spotted a street performer dressed as Iron Man, a character from her favourite film.

However, all was not as it seemed as, beneath the costume, her partner of seven years, Daniel Kinney, was preparing to deliver a marriage proposal to remember.

Posing as a street performer, 37-year-old Daniel waited for Louisa’s arrival while entertaining spectators with his best superhero poses.

Daniel had arranged the shopping trip for 40-year-old Louisa and her friend, Maggie, who was also in on the elaborate stunt to ensure his partner would be in the right place at the right time.

When she arrived at the location, Louisa put some spare change down for the mysterious superhero character - after which Daniel dropped to one knee, removed his mask and revealed an engagement ring.

Daniel added: “We’re both massive fans of the Marvel Avengers films, having recently taken our daughter Meghan to a baby screening of the latest film, and I knew I wanted our marriage proposal to be unique and different, so it seemed like the perfect idea to dress as one of our big screen heroes to ask the biggest question of our lives.

“I went to see Louisa’s parents a couple of days before the proposal to ask for their blessing - but I didn’t tell them how I was planning to pop the question as I wanted it to be a surprise for everyone.

“It was incredibly nerve-wracking standing there in front of Louisa when she had absolutely no idea that it was me, let alone that the person in front of her was about to ask for her hand in marriage.

“It was such a special moment taking off the mask and seeing the shock on her face when she realised it was me all along. I’m grateful to the team at Beaverbrooks Braehead for helping me make my proposal a reality.”

Louisa added: “Daniel has always been the romantic type and is often surprising me with little gifts, gestures and days out together, but I had no idea he would pull something like this out of the bag.

“We were just out on a shopping trip in Glasgow, so I honestly didn’t suspect a thing as there are often street performers around the area. It was such an amazing surprise when he took off the mask and revealed it was actually Daniel. One minute we were shopping, the next minute I was engaged.

“I was really confused at first. I actually ran away when he started walking towards me. But, when he got down on one knee and presented me with a ring, it was one of the happiest moments of my life.

“I love how Daniel made the proposal special to our relationship and really considered the little things that would make it memorable. I’ve found my very own superhero and I look forward to many more surprises from him in the future.”
