Line of Duty actor Martin Compston will receive an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Letters from Glasgow Caledonian University this summer.

This evening will see the star host an event to raise money for the hospice.

Chart-topping musician Example will play Greenock Town Hall with special guest George Bowie for Martin Compston presents in aid of Ardgowan Hospice.

However, the event was thrown into chaos on Wednesday after Compston's flight back to his home town was cancelled.

In a series of dramatic tweets, the actor said he was unsure if he would make the gig on time but said he would 'swim there' if he needs to.

Fans are crossing their fingers that all will go to plan on the big night.
