A NITSHILL teen has been detained for attacking a male.

The 17-year-old flicked his victim's ear and then repeatedly punched him on the face during the assault at St Mary’s Kenmure centre in Bishopbriggs.

The incident happened on August 21, 2017.

The teenager, who cannot be named due to legal reasons, also admitted breaking a court-ordered curfew by being outwith his bail address between the hours of 7pm and 7am without a reasonable excuse on November 26 last year.

In defence it was accepted that the Criminal Justice Social Work report was not entirely positive and highlighted the accused's "disturbing attitude to offending". His lawyer hoped the teen would change with maturity.

It was explained that the accused was currently serving a lengthy sentence after breaching a previous Community Payback Order and then topping that up with housebreaking and vehicle theft. He will not be liberated until June 2019.

Sheriff Gerard Bonnar told the accused he was left with limited options, noting: "This itself is a serious matter."

The teenager was punished with 105 days of detention. The term will run concurrently with his current sentence.
