SCOTLAND’S biggest music festival has kicked off today with performances by the Jessie J and James Bay.

More than 40,000 music are expected to descended on Glasgow Green as TRNSMT festival gets underway.

Overall, around 140,000 revellers are expected over the course of the first weekend of the music festival, now in its second year after taking over from T in the Park.

Stereophonics are also on the bill along with Kodaline and The Script.

Tomorrow’s line-up includes Wolf Alice, Gerry Cinnamon, Courteeners and a headline performance by Liam Gallagher.

Police have been searching all bags as people enter the site, however did encourage empty bottles which can be filled from taps set up around the area.

Sunscreen is also being made available at welfare as Glasgow continues to bask in hot weather this week, with temperatures set to hit highs of 27C over the weekend.

Social media users have been posted pictures of jam-packed carriages as revellers make their way into the City Centre, despite ScotRail saying it would be putting on additional carriages and extra staff to assist the thousands arriving into the five stations closest to the venue.

Miles Kane, Interpol and the Arctic Monkeys will play the festival on Sunday, among others.

The following weekend will see performances from Queen + Adam Lambert, Texas, Jessie Ware and The Killers.
