Jonny Hayes will miss Celtic’s opening Champions League qualifier away to Alashkert after picking up a thigh strain during the friendly against Bohemians 1905 in Austria on Saturday.
The Irishman only made his return from six months out with a broken leg in the first match of Celtic’s pre-season tour against Steyr last week, but limped off in the first half of the game against the Czech side.
Manager Brendan Rodgers was hoping that taking Hayes off immediately would have limited any damage to his thigh, but it now looks as though the winger will be out of action for around 10 days, thus ruling him out of the first leg of the qualifier in Armenia.

There was brighter news for Celtic though with Lewis Morgan shrugging off a knock to return to training, and Moussa Dembele has also rejoined the main group as he steps up his own preparations for the season.
Both will feature as the Celtic squad split for games today against Blau-Weiss Linz and Sparta Prague.
