GLASGOW had its socks well and truly rocked as the second weekend of TRNSMT festival got under way.

British rock gods Queen headlined the fourth day of the festival with help from American Idol star Adam Lambert.

The supergroup tore up the stage as Lambert showcased his famously impressive vocal range while donning a signature flamboyant outfit that Freddie Mercury would have been proud of.

Brian May’s custom-made guitar (designed and made with his father in the 1960s) provided inspiration for the stage on Glasgow Green.

Glasgow Times:

The guitar-shaped stage measured in at an impressive 21m wide and 34m long, while the catwalk neck was 21m in length, enabling the band to be surrounded by hoards of fans.

Slipping into the shoes of one of the greatest frontmen in the world is no easy feat but Lambert proved that he is the best man for the job.

Hits including Killer Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Under Pressure and Another One Bites The Dust got the Glasgow crowd going after an impressive day of live music.

Scottish rockers Texas warmed up the crowd with their impressive career-spanning set.

Following the release of their ninth album Jump On Board, Sharleen Spiteri proved that time has had no impact on their ability to put on a show.

Alabama 3, The Darkness and The Temperance Movement also took to the Main Stage throughout the sun-drenched Friday.

On the King Tut’s stage, even more Scottish rockers made their mark.

Glasgow-based Gun headlined the stage performing tracks from their most recent album Favourite Pleasures, which became their most successful album to date reaching number six in the UK album charts. Second from top was The Xcerts who have built up a cult following during their time on the touring circuit.

Glasgow Times:

In between the live performances, ticketholders enjoyed a remixed site layout which included the Transmission Bar and big wheel, for views across the Glasgow Green site.

Platform street-food trucks set up shop for the second weekend, offering hungry revellers fresh and healthy food options.

Tickets for Friday’s impressive line-up were being sold for half price last week in a rare move by festival bosses.

Some ticketholders were left disappointed after paying over £75 when the event was announced.

Those who decided to head to the show at the last minute were given the opportunity to bring a friend along for free when buying Friday or Sunday tickets.

The jam-packed event will be wrapping up tomorrow evening with a headline slot from Las Vegas megastars The Killers.

Ending what has been one of the biggest fortnights of music for Glasgow, the band will be performing their greatest hits all the way from Hot Fuss, to Sam’s Town to 2017’s Wonderful Wonderful.

Across the day, pop music will be taking centre stage as king of ballads Lewis Capaldi and songbird Jessie Ware hit the main stage.

Friendly Fires will be bringing carnival vibes to the day with their first festival show in more than five years.

Rounding off two weekends of great up-and-coming acts, Nina Nesbitt will headline the King Tut’s stage with her pop bangers.

The party will be continuing during the week as Bruno Mars takes on Glasgow Green with his 24K Magic World Tour. The Grammy-award winner will be supported by Dua Lipa, DNCE and Average White Band for a party on the TRNSMT stage.

Bosses at DF Concerts took the decision to cut ticket prices for the show following the success of the Queen + Adam Lambert discounted rates.

Previously going for £75, more than 2,500 jumped at the chance to see Mars at the lesser price of £35.

Tickets for Sunday of TRNSMT and Bruno Mars on July 10 are available online.
