MORE cops will patrol Erskine after a sex beast attacked a woman while she was walking her dog.

The 43-year-old victim was targeted on Sunday at around 3.15am and the force is still trying to determine whether the attacker was a man or a woman.

The victim was walking on the footpath near to Rashielee Avenue when she was approached by someone who grabbed her from behind and sexually assaulted her.

The woman did not require hospital treatment, but was extremely distressed by the incident.

Inspector Cassie Glass, the officer in charge of policing the Erskine area, said: "To help re-assure the community in Erskine we have increased both high-visibility uniformed and plain-clothes patrols in the area. Anyone who has any concerns should speak to any of the officers or get in touch with me at Renfrew Police Office.

"A team of officers is continuing to investigate the assault which took place around 3.15 am as the woman walked her dog on a footpath in Rashieburn near to Rashielee Avenue.

"We are carrying out extensive house-to-house enquiries and reviewing CCTV footage. Despite the early hour I am sure there will have been someone walking or driving in the area who may have witnessed the attack.
