THE victim of an attempted murder in Glasgow's city centre remains in serious condition more than two weeks after the attack.

The 57-year-old man sustained serious injuries in the brutal attack on Hope Street, at Cowcaddens Road, around 12.20am on Sunday July 1.

Emergency services rushed the man to Glasgow Royal Infirmary but he was later transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in a critical condition.

Detectives are still searching for a man who they believe can assist with their enquiries.

He is described as a white man, in his mid-twenties, around 6ft tall, of stocky build, with short dark hair and stubble.

On the night of the murder attempt, he was wearing a white open collar shirt with a pattern, dark knee-length shorts and Converse-style trainers.

Detective Inspector Peter Sharp of Stewart Street Police Office said: "The victim remains in a serious condition in hospital and we're continuing to appeal for the public's help as part of our investigation.

"I'd urge anyone who may have witnessed this incident, who recognises the man in the image, or any motorists who were travelling in the area at the time and have dashcam footage to contact us or Crimestoppers as soon as possible.

"If the man sees this appeal, I'd also urge him to get in touch and assist us in establishing the full circumstances surrounding this man's injuries.
