MANCHESTER United legend Eric Cantona will be guest of honour at Street Soccer Scotland's gala dinner.

The Frenchman will be among guests at the second annual event which will take place on October 23 at the Hilton Glasgow.

Last year, the charity's inaugural event featured Street Soccer Scotland Ambassador Sir Alex Ferguson.

Cantona, was named by Sir Alex as only one of four 'world class' footballers he managed, and his most impactful signing.

The French Talisman scored 82 goals while playing with Manchester United under the famous number seven jersey. Since his unexpected retirement at the age of 30, he has made a bid for the French Presidency (in order to gain support for a French homelessness and poverty charity), managed the winning 2005 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup team, and focussed on his acting career, starring in several movies including Looking for Eric in which he played himself.

Speaking at the 2007 Homeless World Cup, whilst on an ambassador visit, Cantona said, “Everyday we must wake up with a goal, that’s the most important thing, to wake up every day, in the morning with a goal, that’s the main thing”
