POLICE have cordoned off an area near a river "as part of an ongoing police investigation."
The bridge on New Road between New Inn and Panteg has been cordoned off and according to an eyewitness there are two police cars and a community support officer at the scene.
A Gwent Police spokesman said: "As part of an ongoing police investigation, officers have cordoned off an area of the Afon Lwyd river between Cwmbran and Pontypool as a precautionary measure.
"There is no immediate risk is posed to the public.
"We have no further details are available at this time."
