A CRASH has caused traffic chaos on one of Glasgow's busiest motorways.

The incident, which appears to have involved at least four vehicles, was reported on the Kingston Bridge shortly after 7pm tonight.

Police are on the scene, however, the outside lanes of the M8 westbound are partially blocked.

Traffic has backed up along the M8 and M74 with congestion now reported to be spilling out on to city centre streets.

A map released by Traffic Scotland has shown major delays throughout the city as a result of the incident.

Work is underway to resolve the issue and allow traffic to move again, however, drivers have been warned it is slow moving.

One vehicle has been recovered.

Advice is to avoid the area if possible.

One lane was reopened shortly after 8pm, however, congestion is still high in the area.

Recovery efforts cleared the remaining vehicles shortly after 8.30pm.

But traffic is still busy, with tailbacks reported to J15.

Traffic Scotland said it would take a while for the road to return to normal.
