As the final day of the European Championships is set to get under way today, the city is preparing for the Men's Cycling Road Race which will again see several routes closed in and around Glasgow.

On Wednesday, the city went into lockdown as the Men's and Women's Time Trial races got underway. 

Sunday won't see as many closures as earlier in the week but there will still be restrictions and closures in place. 

Parking restrictions came into force on the race course from 4pm on Friday, August 10 to facilitate the course build and will remain in place until 11.59pm on Sunday August 12.

Roads will close from 6am and reopen in a phased manner from 6.30pm to 10pm.

To explain the closures, the council have divided the race route into a number of sectors to show the areas which will be impacted the most.

Hillhead Street

Gibson Street

The road closures for sector two include:

Woodlands Road

Park Quadrant

Park Gate, Park Circus

Park Circus Place

Lynedoch Place

Lynedoch Street

Woodlands Road

The road closures for sector three include:

St Vincent Street

Elmbank Street

Bath Street

Charing Cross Junction

Sauchiehall Street

Blythswood Street

West George Street

Nelson Mandela Place

The road closures for sector four include:

Greendyke Street

Saltmarket

Trongate

Argyle Street

George Square

George Street

Montrose street

Collins Street

Rottenrow East

High street

London road

Glasgow Green
