Human remains have been discovered at a house in Paisley by police searching for a missing man.

Officers carrying out enquiries in relation to the disappearance of Kevin Bishop made the discovery on Schaw Road.

A 46-year-old man has been arrested and enquiries are ongoing.

Schaw Street in Gallowhill, Paisley, is currently sealed off and forensics officers have been seen removing evidence from a flat.

The grim discovery comes after a search was launched for Kevin Bishop from Paisley who disappeared more than two weeks ago.

The 32-year-old, who has no fixed address, was reported missing to police on Saturday with the last confirmed signing of him in Paisley’s Well Street on July 27.

A spokeswoman said: "Officers are currently carrying out enquiries at a house in Schaw Road, Paisley in connection with an ongoing missing person enqury.

"Kevin Bishop, from Paisley, was reported as a missing person on Saturday, August 4 2018.

"Human remains have been found within the house and a post-mortem will take place to establish the identity. We can confirm that the family of Kevin Bishop has been made aware.

"A 46-year-old man has been arrested and enquiries are ongoing."
