TRANSPORT cops are stepping up their patrols at stations across Scotland following a 'terror' attack in London.

Extra officers will be visible on trains and at stations across the country this afternoon and into the evening.

British Transport Police said the move comes after the incident outside the Houses of Parliament.

We previously reported that a driver has been arrested on suspicion of terror offences after a car collided with cyclists and pedestrians before crashing into security barriers outside the Houses of Parliament.

The man, in his late 20s, is being held in custody at a south London police station after armed officers swarmed the scene following the suspected terror attack just before 7.40am on Tuesday

Superintendent Chris Horton, from British Transport Police, said: “We know incidents such as this are likely to cause concern, so our officers will be highly visible both on board trains and at stations.

“We are there to reassure the travelling public so please don’t be alarmed if you see our officers, including firearms officers, on your journey.”

If you have any concerns on your journey, please get in touch by sending a text to 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40.
