IT’S a family affair for country singer Zoee when it comes to her music.

For the songstress, who is originally from Australia, has her entire family involved in her career including mum Wanda who takes on a manager role.

The 22-year-old said: “My brother plays the box drum with me and I have my dad on guitar. My mum does my managing and my littlest brother is just learning the base so he is going to be coming out with me very soon. It is a pretty cool system.”

Zoee and her family have made Lanark their home for the last two years after travelling the world. The alternative country pop singer, who regularly performs in Glasgow, is even hoping to become a citizen in her new adopted country.

She said: “Glaswegians are much more laid back and relaxed, a bit like us Aussies so we get on really well. I have been here a couple of years now and I love it too much. Obviously I want to still do a bit of travelling but I am doing my citizenship here.”

She added: “The music scene is one of the best ones I have ever seen. I have been to the States including Nashville and Canada but I think here especially Glasgow has probably the best scene I have come across.

“The general vibe in Glasgow is one which is just pure love for music. They don’t mind what kind of music it is, they just have a genuine love for music. It is so lovely to play to an audience like that because as a performer you want to please. So when they love music in the way that the Glasgow people do, it’s great to see.”

Zoee will again witness that love of music first hand when she performs at the Millport Country Music Festival on September 9.

She said: “The festival is going to be insane I was really humbled when I got asked.

“I have a few friends who are playing it so that will be really nice to catch up. I love that vibe about Glasgow, there is a sense of community in the music scene.”

She added: “The next one I would really like to get into is c2c Country to Country music festival, I guess that is the next step but Millport is going to be absolutely fantastic.”

Zoee will also support her live shows with the release of new music.
