A GLASGOW hitman has been slashed behind bars, according to national reports.

Notorious Raymond Anderson Snr was reportedly slashed three times inside HMP Shotts.

The 55-year-old is serving a minimum of 30 years in prison for his part in a gangland murder of Michael Lyons in 2006.

He was hospitalised following the assault but his injuries are not thought to be serious, according to the Daily Record.

It's understood he was being transported from one part of the jail to another when the incident occurred.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Around 11.30pm on August 22, police were called to reports of a serious assault within Shotts prison.

"A 55-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Inquiries are ongoing.”

Anderson and accomplice James McDonald were jailed after shooting the 21-year-old outside Applerow Motors in Possil.

Two others were also injured in the attack, which was reportedly part of a feud between the well-known Daniel and Lyons families.

The Scottish Prison Service could not be reached for comment.
