Police have sparked a public appeal to help trace a man who disappeared from Greenock without his daily medication.

Officers in Inverclyde are hoping the public will be able to aid in tracing 44-year-old Paul Dowds who has not been seen since Friday, August 17.

Paul takes daily medication and it is believed that he may not have it in his possession.

He described as being around 6' in height, slim build, a shaven head, a large scar on the right side of his face from his ear to mouth.

He also has a tattoo of an SAS emblem on his right bicep. He may also be wearing glasses.

Chief Inspector Debbie Reilly of Greenock Police Office, said: "We are becoming increasingly concerned for the safety and well-being of Paul as each day passes without contact.

"Anyone who has seen Paul or has information about his current whereabouts is asked not to approach him but to get in touch with Police Scotland via 101 as a matter of urgency - quoting incident 2143 of 24th August 2018.

"If Paul sees our appeal I would urge him to contact us or his family or friends."
