Members of the public are being invited to have their say on plans to create a three-way footbridge in Maryhill.

Scottish Canals have launched the consultation before a detailed planning application for the infrastructure link is submitted.

The bridge aims to improve physical connections for both residents and canal users.

Currently, walkers and cyclists heading to and from the Bishopbriggs/Kirkintilloch/Falkirk side of the canal to and from the section between Maryhill and Speirs Wharf have to go via steep slopes and a narrow tunnel under the canal shared with vehicles on Lochburn Road.

Draft plans have called for an elevated cable-stayed solution but have dropped previous plans to create a skeletal figure dubbed ‘The Big Man’ to hold the cables.

The consultation will be held at

- Saturday September 8, Maryhill Burgh Halls, 11am to 4pm

— Tuesday September 11, Lambhill Stables, 1 to 6pm

— Wednesday September 12, Ruchill Community Centre, 10am to 2pm

— Thursday September 13, Cadder Community Centre, 1 to 7pm
