TWO sisters have pledged to run a 5k every day this month to help a friend fighting two kinds of cancer at just 37.

Evening Times reporter Caroline Wilson and her sister Lorraine are aiming to help Claire Bothwell raise £100k for pioneering treatment in the United States.

The mother-of-three, who lives in Glasgow’s West End, was diagnosed with stage four bowel cancer after repeated visits to her doctor.

She has now developed lymphoma and there are no trials available to her in the UK. More than £40k has been raised so far for her by family and friends through events.

Claire said: "I'm totally in awe of what Caroline and Lorraine are doing for me.

"To go out there and run everyday in the most horrible weather that Scotland can throw at you shows such perseverance and strength.

"It's really inspiring and I'm so grateful to them for doing this. “They are amazing."
