THE first time I trained with Lubo Moravcik was one of the most astonishing days of my football life.

I thought I had seen it all having been lucky enough to share a dressing room with the great Dennis Bergkamp who, you won’t be stunned to learn a magician with a football.

I’ve played with a few who made you go ‘wow’. Lubo was right at the top.

I remembering thinking to myself ‘who is this wee guy’ as he took corners with both feet and had a trick for every situation. That Cruyff turn was impossible to read.

I was there for his last season at Celtic and it would have wonderful for me to have played with that little genius, and that is what he was, for a few more years,

I might have scored a few goals for Celtic!

I read last week that it was 20 years since this unknown Slovakian arrived in Glasgow for pennies. Dr Jozef Venglos did the Celtic fans a real service.

Apart from what he could do with a ball, and there were times I would stand at Barrowfield with my mouth open at whatever he was up to, what I loved about Lubo was that he was humble and a gentleman.

He was loved by everyone at Celtic and he had time for everyone.

Not once did I ever see him not say hello or stop for a chat to a fan. He was a real start.

There haven’t been many Celtic players over the past 20 years as good as this unique talent. And very few have been as nice.
