A SEARCH is underway for a missing teenage girl from Giffnock.

Officers have appealed for help in tracing April Polat, who was last seen at 12.20pm on Wednesday in Newton Mearns.

The 15-year-old who lives in Giffnock was last seen as she left her school on Stewarton Road, Newton Mearns.

She headed off in the direction of Stewarton Road towards Barrhead Road.

April, who has Asperger Syndrome, is described as medium build with long dark hair, wearing a light hooded jacket, white jeans, pink Converse trainers and a red scarf.

PC Nicola Fisher of Giffnock Police Office said: “April has been missing before, but usually returns within a couple of hours, so given the time that has passed we are becoming increasingly concerned for her safety.

“Enquiries and searches are ongoing to trace April and we would urge anyone with any information on her whereabouts to contact Giffnock Police Office through 101 quoting reference number 1481 of 21st November.”
