A GLASGOW-based human rights organisation has held a rally to combat racism, following recent attempts by the Scottish Defence League (SDL) to march in the city.

Global Minorities Alliance (GMA) took part in an anti-racist protest organised by political group United Against Fascism (UAF) at Square Park in Pollokshields. Around 200 people attended,

It was called in protest at the SDL, who had intended to march through Pollokshields on Saturday to commemorate the birthday of Glasgow teenager Kriss Donald, who was murdered by an Asian gang nearly 10 years ago.

The right-wing group also wanted to oppose Islam during the time of Ramadan, however the planned protest was blocked by Glasgow City Council.
