TWO Glasgow shopping centres attracted more than 210,000 shoppers over the weekend.
Silverburn stores enjoyed their biggest retail weekend of the year as more than 120,000 visitors went to the mall on Saturday and Sunday.
And Glasgow Fort had more than 90,000 shoppers for the two days.
David Pierotti, centre director at Silverburn, said: "There has been a significant shift this year to investment gifts – cashmere sweaters, winter coats and leather bags. Games and technology gifts are strong, particularly tablets and phones."
At Glasgow Fort best sellers included video games and clothing.
Phil Goodman, the Fort's centre manager, said: "We are expecting things to get even busier. Until Sunday we will be open until midnight."
Meanwhile, John Lewis, which has 39 shops across the UK, including the Buchanan Galleries, had record sales of £147.8million for the week to December 15, up 11.1% on the same week last year.
