Scotland's First Minister has praised Lewis Capaldi for his bravery after he made a huge announcement to fans.

The 26-year-old singer/songwriter, who has been diagnosed with Tourette's, announced his decision to take a step back from touring 'for the foreseeable future' after struggling with tics during his Glastonbury set.

And Humza Yousaf has joined in the well wishes for the Someone You Loved singer.

He tweeted: "It's okay, not to be okay. Thank you Lewis Capaldi for being you, and for speaking so openly about the challenges you are facing.

"Your bravery will give heart and comfort to so many people in a similar position. Wish you the very best for your health and wellbeing."

Lewis told his 1.5 million followers that taking a break from touring was the most difficult decision of his life and that he plans to be back 'as soon as I can'.

We previously reported that the mother of a teenager with Tourette’s said that Capaldi’s Glastonbury performance left her in tears because of the “amazingly powerful” impact it will have on raising awareness for the condition.

Laura Hummersone, whose 19-year-old son Harry has the condition, said: “Watching Lewis yesterday, in that moment, I think he did more for Tourette’s than any charity or education on the topic in all the times I’ve known about Tourette’s. I was in tears."
