East Renfrewshire Council has secured funding which will go towards two play areas in the local authority.
A total of £90,000 from the Scottish Government will be spent upgrading the play area at McDiarmid Park in Barrhead.
Cash worth £120,000, meanwhile, from the Scottish Government and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund will go towards installing a play area in Thornliebank playing fields.
In order to make the areas safe and inclusive for all, £40,000 of the budget for the Barrhead play area and £50,000 of the budget for the Thornliebank play area will go towards ensuring accessible equipment is installed, as well as fencing and seating areas.
The remaining money in both pots will be spent according to the results of a vote by residents on which pieces of equipment they would like to see in the new play areas.
The local authority promises they will buy as many of residents’ favourite items within the allotted budgets.
The results of the consultations will be shared on August 4 on the council’s website and in local libraries.
