A soft play has suddenly closed after an incident led to a child being taken to hospital.

Wee Play House has been temporarily shut down after a child was taken to Wishaw General Hospital at around 11am on Thursday, February 1.

The East Kilbride children’s indoor playground is now undergoing “upgrades and checks”.

The business confirmed the closure and said the well-being of youngsters remains their “top priority”.

The incident has triggered investigations into health and safety at the venue.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance service said: “We received a call on Thursday at 1100  hours to attend an incident in East Kilbride.

"We dispatched a paramedic response unit and one ambulance to the scene. We transported one child patient to Wishaw General Hospital.”

Wee Play House released a statement saying: “A minor incident had happened in the soft play as far as our knowledge had no injuries.

“The soft play is closed for a couple of days while the upgrades and safety checks are taking place! As children's safety is our top priority!

“We hope to have everything back to normal soon!

“Please get in touch regarding your booking!

“(Works are not a cover up! Any customers that have visited our place will know that there were a few leaks and the sand pit was changing and reception was being moved!)

“We can assure you all details of the incident will be posted once all the safety checks have been cleared.”
