SCHOOLKIDS are in for a chance to hop aboard the iconic Waverley steamer due to set sail next month.
Pupils are being asked to get creative and make a replica of the boat from their household items in a bid to win the "unforgettable" trip.
Winners will sail down the famous River Clyde, viewing landmarks such as the restored Victorian sailing ship Glenlee and the historic Dumbarton Castle sitting on the volcanic Dumbarton Rock.
They will also sail under the Erskine Bridge, before passing the town of Port Glasgow to arrive in Greenock for some fish-tastic views.
On board Waverley, pupils will be able to view the ship's powerful steam engine, see the massive paddle wheels turn and meet the Waverley’s captain.
At the end of the journey, pupils will also be able to take home an exclusive Waverley gift from the on-board shop.

McGill's coaches will be collecting the winning pupils from school.
Alex Hornby, managing director at McGill’s, said: "We are thrilled to be working in partnership with paddle steamer Waverley to launch this exciting competition for schools, and our coach will be taking the lucky winners home after a great day out.
"We look forward to seeing the incredible entries and talent that emerge, good luck to everyone entering."
The closing date for entries is April 28, 2024 with provisions to set sail on May 17.
Boarding from Glasgow to Greenock will take place around 9.15am, with departure scheduled for 9.45am. Arrival at Greenock will be about 11.30am with departure at 11.40am.
The Glasgow Times will get in touch with the winning school to arrange coach travel to and from the school. The winning school must obtain permission from parents and guardians, and the editor's decision is final.

This competition is running across the Glasgow Times, Clydebank Post, Greenock Telegraph, Largs and Millport News, Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald, Ayr Advertiser and Helensburgh Advertiser. Schools must be within the paper's circulation areas to enter.
