JIM Kerr has won a prestigious radio award for his documentary about The Doors' Jim Morrison.
The Simple Minds frontman was awarded the Gold Medal for Best Documentary at the New York Festivals International Radio Awards in New York City on Tuesday night (April 16) for Jim Kerr on Jim Morrison.
The documentary was written and presented by Jim and explores the enduring legacy of Jim Morrison who has inspired him since his childhood.
Throughout the programme, which is Jim's first outing as a documentary maker, he reflects on how the poet and singer has influenced both his life and career.
Speaking of the award, Jim said: "We're really touched by the recognition.
"I have to say, every great story, every great documentary relies on a compelling subject matter and in the history of rock surely there can be no more compelling subject matter than the music and poetry of Jim Morrison and The Doors."
Jim Kerr on Jim Morrison is available to listen to on BBC Sounds.
