A WOMAN who assaulted a cop at the Horseshoe Bar has been fined.

Gillian Smith, 47, struck the police officer to the face at the Drury Street pub on October 10, 2019.

She also kicked another officer to his leg and spat at a further cop when in London Road police office.

All the offences were committed whilst Smith, from Calton, was on bail.

She appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Wednesday having breached a previous sentence imposed.

Sheriff Jonathan Guy said: “Why should she be given another chance? There has to come a point enough is enough.”

Her lawyer said: “She has no outstanding matters. My understanding is she just keeps coming back to court not complying with this order.

“She would be in a position to pay a fine. She’s not fit to do unpaid work due to her physical and mental health.”

Sheriff Guy told her: “You pleaded guilty to a serious offence.

With the previous disposal, unfortunately, you have not complied for a variety of reasons. I’m not going to send you to prison. I will impose a financial penalty.”

Smith was fined £270.

The sheriff added: “It is a significant amount for your non-compliance.”
