A MAN caught with a drug haul claimed he was going to deal to friends attending the TRNSMT festival.

Muqam Mahmood, 25, was snared with ecstasy and cocaine in his car in Glasgow city centre on July 1, 2023.

The city's sheriff court heard police had reason to pull Mahmood over around 9.40pm.

Prosecutor Eilidh Macdonald said: "During the search, 11 snap bags were recovered which contained 55 tablets.

"A total of 19.9 grams of cocaine was also recovered.

"The value of the ecstasy tablets was £420 while the cocaine was valued at £640."

Mahmood, of East Kilbride, was then arrested.

He pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to two charges of possession with intent to supply.

Ryan Sloan, defending, told the court that the offences were "amateurish."

The lawyer added: "He is not the type of man who has done this in the past.

"It was for the circle of friends who were attending TRNSMT. He accepts this is a serious matter.

"He has a degree in construction management and has a job opportunity to be a site manager of a construction site but he is aware that a background check could cause him difficulties. He has brought this on himself."

Sheriff Joanna McDonald deferred sentence pending background reports until next month and granted Mahmood bail meantime.
