CASH-rich Romeos today get the chance to buy their partner a £2000 cocktail, served with a sparkling diamond ring.

The limited edition Belvedere Jewel is billed as the perfect sweetener for romantics who want to celebrate Valentine's Day by popping the question in style.

The vodka-based cocktail, with it's sparkling ingredient, is only available today at Glasgow's exclusive 29 Private Members' Club.

The idea is that if there is an, "I do" a gift voucher for £2000, to be redeemed at The Diamond Studio, which specialises in bespoke rings and is located within the club at Royal Exchange Square, will be handed over.

The lip-smacking cocktail comprises 30ml of Belvedere Vodka, 30ml of Campari and 30ml of sweet vermouth, with a dash of grapefruit juice, stirred and strained over ice into a glass and garnished with a grapefruit wedge.

Michelle Mooney, the event manager at the city centre club which has a number of multi-millionaires as members, said: "We wanted to play Cupid this Valentine's, as we know it can be a stressful time for guys who want to pop the question.

"It's difficult to come up with something original and we're used to helping our guests create a little magic.

"That's when we came up with the idea of the Belvedere Jewel cocktail.

"It's such a romantic way to propose. Served in the intimate setting of our Oyster Bar, the cocktail looks beautiful, tastes delicious and comes with an extra special surprise at the bottom of the glass - a silver ring that has been engraved with the words "marry me."

Michelle said: "I know £2000 may sound like a hefty price for a cocktail. However, you can't put a price on making someone's dream come true."

The cocktail has to be pre-ordered, because each silver ring will be specially engraved before the couple enter the club.

The lover's hotline is 0141 225 5615, which takes them through to Michelle and her events team.

And there will even be some bubbly on hand to toast the happy couple.
