CANNABIS seizures rocketed as police carried out a series of raids on suspected drugs factories.

Police seized drugs worth around £250,000 after three raids in a single day.

Officers recovered the massive haul of more than 300 cannabis plants when they swooped on an industrial unit in Milngavie.

The intelligence-led operation took place at around 3.45pm on Friday in Cloberfield Road. Police said a 52-year-old was arrested.

A spokesman said: "As a result of an intelligence-led operation, police seized cannabis plants at an industrial unit - 300 plants were taken from the unit."

Around six hours earlier, drugs with a street value of £20,000 were seized by police.

Officers from the divisional pro-active unit swooped on a flat in Kirkmuir Drive, Fernhill, and recovered a cannabis cultivation.

Drugs, believed to be cocaine and herbal cannabis, worth £3400, were also found at the flat.

At around 8pm the same day, another operation - at a rented garage in Langdykeside, Lesmahagow - uncovered a cannabis farm worth around £50,000.

Inquiries are ongoing to trace those responsible for the Lanarkshire seizures.

Police stressed the three finds are not being linked, but urged anyone with information to come forward by phoning 101.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Inquiries are continuing following the recovery of controlled drugs in two separate police operations in Lanarkshire on Friday.

Police searched a house in Hamilton and recovered £145,000 of drugs, believed to be cocaine and cannabis.
