£300k for new artwork

SPORT bosses are offering £300,000 for an artist to create a new public artwork in Glasgow's East End.

The plan is to create a lasting legacy for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games with local communities also getting involved.

Velocity, a partnership between Glasgow Life, Glasgow City Council, Creative Scotland and Clyde Gateway Urban Regeneration Company, is looking for a permanent artwork for a site near the Emirates Arena with community-hosted activity a key part of the commission.

It will lead to a permanent artwork bosses claim will be of international significance for both Glasgow and the Commonwealth.
