VODAFONE has launched ultrafast 4G services which could boost the Glasgow economy by tens of millions of pounds.
The mobile tele-communications giant predicts that faster speeds, bigger data allowances and an ability to share that data at no extra cost could inject £544million into economy across Scotland.
Company chiefs say 4G could generate up to £61m in Glasgow - £4m less than Vodafone spent this year to bring 4G to Scotland.
The introduction of fourth generation mob-ile phone technology brings ultrafast inter-net access for smart-phones and laptops with a USB wireless modem.
Users can access services including high definition, cloud computing and video conferencing.
Vodafone is also investing in its existing network and plans to double its indoor 3G coverage in Scotland by 2015 when it aims to provide indoor coverage across 2G, 3G and 4G to almost 98% of the Scottish population.
Vodafone also plans to ensure services are available to the golf fans at the Ryder Cup and the hundreds of thousands of spectators in Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games.
