A BID is under way to stage a controversial music event again this year.

And the Evening Times understands the Summer Sessions are set to take place in Bellahouston Park over five nights this year, instead of three.

Almost 100,000 people saw Avicii, Eminem and Kings of Leon, over three nights as part of Summer Sessions in the Glasgow park last year.

However, families living near the park were left terrified as drunken music fans stumbled through their gardens.

Some residents also told how louts used their gardens as toilets.

Plans to host five gigs in Bellahouston Park have been submitted to Glasgow City Council.

A DF Concerts and Events spokeswoman said: "Glasgow Summer Sessions will return in 2014 with details to be announced over the coming months.

"The festival brought three of the world's biggest acts to Glasgow last year and generated huge economic impact and exposure for the city.

"We have worked closely with the local community since the event's inception.

"We've listened closely to their feedback from last year's festival, which will assist in the planning for 2014.

"This joined up approach means we have dialogue with local residents prior to, during and following the events."

Police arrested almost 30 people at the Avicii gig in August and residents in the surrounding streets claimed their neighbourhood descended into drunken chaos from early afternoon.

Extra pressure was also put on police as patrols had to be stepped up to reduce disorder near the site.

Glasgow City Council bosses said the gigs had brought an economic boost to the city.

However, residents up to three miles away claimed they could hear the performances and during the Eminem gig residents reported that windows in high-rise flats were vibrating.

A Glasgow City Council spokesman said: "We have received a planning application for Summer Sessions."

The acts to perform at this year's event have not been revealed.
