A BADLY decomposed body found on a Lake District fell has been identified as a man who has been missing for five years.
John Charles Ford, of Atherton, near Manchester, was reported missing to Greater Manchester Police on February 24, 2005.
His car, a silver Toyota, was located on March 30 2005 in Keswick but despite searches, Mr Ford, who was 41-years-old when he went missing, was not found.
His remains, dressed in walking clothing, were found by a man walking in woodland in The Benn area of Thirlmere on February 8.
Investigations have been ongoing to establish his identity, which was confirmed from dental records.
His immediate family and the local coroner have been informed.
Police believe there are no suspicious circumstances at this time.
