WORCESTER City caretaker manager Carl Heeley has reacted to Jake Meredith’s dip in form by bringing in a young Premier League goalkeeper.

The St George’s Lane chief has snapped up 19-year-old stopper Danzelle St Louis-Hamilton from Stoke City on a month’s loan.

The Stevenage-born custodian is expected to go straight into City’s team for Saturday’s all-important Blue Square South relegation clash at Lewes.

Heeley has been forced to act after seeing his former Team Bath keeper lose form and confidence in recent matches.

“Unfortunately, as a keeper there is no hiding place and if you make a mistake 99 times out of 100 it results in a goal,” Heeley said. “But bringing in Danzelle doesn’t spell the end for Jake.

“I just feel we need to protect him by taking him out of the firing line and that is why I have gone after Danzelle.

“I was put in touch with Adrian Pennock, academy youth team manager at Stoke, and we have signed Danzelle on loan for a month.”

St Louis-Hamilton spent a month on loan at League One Bristol Rovers last season following a broken finger to the Pirates back-up stopper Mike Green.

But the youngster did not get an opportunity to make his professional debut as first-choice keeper Steve Phillips remained in full fitness and form.

The stopper, who is rated highly by Potters manager Tony Pulis, also spent the first half of this campaign with Blue Square North outfit Vauxhall Motors.

With St Louis-Hamilton joining the St George’s Lane side, Heeley has released forward Aaron Farrell after just four games for the club.

He has struggled to adapt to life at City since joining earlier this month following his exit from Blue Square Premier neighbours Kidderminster Har-riers, despite scoring against Braintree Town on his second City outing.

“I just felt that Aaron isn’t right for the scrap that we are in,” Heeley said. “We have left on good terms.”

Heeley also tried to bring in former Evesham United midfielder Joe Clarke from Blue Square North side Redditch United, however, the player has opted to stay at Valley Stadium.

The Lane chief also said transfer-listed striker Marco Adaggio is no nearer leaving the club. He was told he was surplus to requirements within a week of Heeley taking charge at City.

Despite some initial enquiries nothing concrete has yet developed for the 22-year-old.
