A SPECIAL rubbish collection was arranged to keep a Heybridge residential area clean and safe.

Craig Paul Clearance services visited Wood Road to remove bulky items of rubbish, which had been cleared out by residents.

The free collection was organised by Moat in order to prevent dumping of furniture and other large items in the bin store area or in the street.

It was part of the housing association’s neighbourhood charter in Heybridge, which covers Wood Road, Oak Road and Chestnut Avenue. The neighbourhood teams there are working together with residents to make sure their communities are clean, attractive and safe.

Residents’ feedback from a consultation meeting, door to door survey of all households and a questionnaire sent out to key agencies identified that responsible disposal of all litter is seen as a priority.

The bulk rubbish collection is part of a new commitment to keep the neighbourhood clean, as well as working with local agencies to participate in campaigns such as Keep Britain Tidy, and communicating possible legal consequences of littering through a community newsletter.

Nicola Syder, Moat’s community development officer, said; “The neighbourhood charter in Heybridge is working really well so far.

“It has allowed Moat to work together with residents in order to create a safer, tidier neighbourhood. This bulk collection was great as it offered residents the opportunity to have a spring clean and get rid of all their large items of rubbish without any hassle.

“Combined with the other services, like a fortnightly litter pick and regular estate inspections, we’re listening to residents’ concerns and putting resolutions into action.”
