A CUTE tot with chubby cheeks has been named Radcliffe Carnival’s Baby of the Year.
Six-month-old Olly Lee Smith saw off competition from 18 other babies to win the title at Radcliffe Civic Suite on Friday.
He was entered into the annual contest by his grandmother, Eileen Smith. And Olly managed to charm judges from the carnival committee to be named as the winner and pick up a sash.
He will also be the star of the show on carnival weekend, June 5 and 6, when he will collect his trophy.
His mum, Joanne Golding, who lives in Stanley Road, Radcliffe, with her partner Lee Smith, said: “I was surprised when I found out Olly had won. Everyone is always saying how cute he is and how much they like his chubby cheeks.”
This year’s competition has been hailed a success by organiser Ray Vevers, who changed the traditional day and venue.
He said: “The competition went very well and I am happy that so many people turned up. It is the first time we have held it on a Friday, but we will certainly be doing it again.”
