STOURBRIDGE FC boss Gary Hackett says the club will keep tabs on Sean Evans’ situation after the winger returned to AFC Telford.

Evans was recalled by the Conference North side on Tuesday after a months loan at Amblecote, where he played for the first three months of the season.

The timing is unfortunate as Evans had arguably his best game of the loan spell in the 2-1 win over Banbury United on Saturday, winning the penalty which saw visiting keeper Joe Murrall dismissed.

Hackett is also on the lookout for defensive cover after revealing Craig Slater will not play for the rest of the season.

Stour’s back four has impressed this season but now lacks bodies with Sam Smith also out long-term, while Jamie Oliver is starting a five match ban for his sending off at Swindon Supermarine.

Hackett said: “We now have a situation where Nathan Bennett is our only fully fit centre back.

“Ross Collins is fit but is not match-fit, we are certainly hoping to bring in another defender.

“With regard to Sean Evans we are monitoring the situation. It’s a little bit of a shame he has left when he has.”

The club has also seen its fixture congestion worsen after Tuesday’s game at Hednesford Town fell victim to the weather conditions.

With the Glassboys having no free Tuesday’s for the rest of the season, the game will be re-arranged for a Thursday night.

Hackett added: “The only slight consolation is its not the furthest distance to travel. I would rather be going to Hednesford than Tiverton on a Thursday.”

Hackett’s men now face two tough away trips to Bedford Town on Saturday and Leamington on Tuesday.

n Stourbridge FC Youth Team play the first of their cup semi-finals on Monday night when they take on Malvern Town in the Worcestershire County Youth Cup at Amblecote (Kick-off 7-30pm) The winners face either Bromsgrove Rovers or Kidderminster Harriers in the final. Their other upcoming semi-final in the Birmingham County Youth Cup at home to Burton Albion, has been pencilled in for March 15.

A separate telephone line has now been installed for the Glassboys Bar. In future, all enquiries concerning bookings for the Glassboys Bar should be made to the new telephone number 01384 444075.
