An elderly man has died following a bungalow fire in Boncath.
Emergency services were called to the single storey property at Bro Heddwch, Boncath, near Crymych after a local postman reported the fire at 10.02am today (Thursday).
The house was well alight when fire crews from Crymych, Cardigan and Newcastle Emlyn arrived.
They rescued the elderly man from the building, he was initially treated outside the house by paramedics. Unfortunately, his condition deteriorated and he subsequently died at the scene.
Fire fighters used two hose reel jets, six sets of breathing apparatus and a thermal imaging camera to deal with the blaze.
Crymych fire crew and police officers are still at the scene, senior fire investigation officers are currently on their way to Boncath.
A joint investigation is being undertaken by the fire & rescue service and the police to identify how the fire started.
Station Manager, Dai John said: "We cannot determine a cause for the fire at present, however early indications are that no smoke alarm was fitted in the property".
