Top northern jockey Paul Hanagan, warming up for another exciting Flat season on turf, journeys to Wolverhampton tomorrow to ride a winner without a penalty.

Satwa Moon, trained by Ed Dunlop at Newmarket, lines up for the ladbrokes.com Handicap over a mile-and-a-half, following a fluent course victory just a week ago.

Satwa Moon, who posted a two-and-a-half length success that day over By Command, a winner on his previous outing, escapes an obligatory 6lb for that win on the basis that his success was achieved in an apprentices’ race.

Consequently the four-year-old is set to race off the same handicap rating tomorrow – 72 – as he did last week.

A similar outcome looks on the cards and that will be good news for Malton-based Hanagan, who topped the 100-winner mark in 2009 and, as stable jockey to Richard Fahey’s powerful Musley Bank yard, has high hopes of doing so again in 2010.

Monte Major can get punters off to a good start by notching his third successive win in the opening Wolverhampton Hospitality Claiming Stakes.

Derek Shaw’s sprinter just got the better of Misaro here on his latest outing. With Sean Palmer claiming the 7lb allowance tomorrow, Monte Major is set to meet Misaro on more favourable terms and is fancied to confirm his superiority.

Confined to just three outings last season, Cheviot finished placed in all three for Michael Jarvis, who, significantly, has kept the four-year-old in training for another season.

Not yet exposed, Cheviot looks a promising performer and he is not to be underestimated in the ladbrokespoker.com Handicap.

Ollie Pears claimed Lord Fidelio for £8,000 after the four-year-old won at Kempton two starts back. The gelding has since finished a good second to Little Pete on the same course.

Lord Fidelio looks the sort of horse Norton-based Pears can campaign successfully and the Enjoy The Party Pack Group Offer Claiming Stakes offers him a good chance of victory under Seb Sanders. He is awarded the nap vote.

Mark Johnston introduces Sir Frank Wappat back to the course in the ladbrokes.com Maiden Stakes. This promising colt is on something of a retrieval mission after being a beaten favourite on the second of his two juvenile outings at Nottingham last autumn.

Sir Frank Wappat had shown plenty of potential on his debut at Yarmouth and looks a fair prospect. A wide draw will not make life easy for him tomorrow, but he merits respect all the same.

Johnston has arguably an even stronger chance at Lingfield’s afternoon meeting with Magic Omen in the Nicholas Hall Maiden Stakes over seven furlongs.

Greg Fairley’s mount finished a creditable second on his debut over this course and distance last week. He should be even sharper this time.

The useful Stags Leap (2.00), a dual-winner last season for Richard Hannon, returns to the fray in the opening race, while the speedy Sherjawy (5.00) brings a profile of consistency into the sprint handicap. Both horses have strong claims.
